McHugh, Wilson Announce the Appointment of Dr. John Fleming to the Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee
Washington, D.C. – U.S. House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member John M. McHugh (R-NY) and Military Personnel Subcommittee Ranking Member Joe Wilson (R-SC) today announced the appointment of U.S. Congressman John Fleming, M.D. (R-LA) to the Military Personnel Subcommittee. Dr. Fleming will continue to serve on the Air and Land Forces Subcommittee and the Readiness Subcommittee.
“As a family physician with six years of experience as a medical officer in the United States Navy, Dr. Fleming understands the challenges facing America’s healthcare system. The Military Healthcare System is not immune to these issues, and I am confident that our men and women in uniform and their families will benefit from John’s talents and work on the Military Personnel Subcommittee,” said Rep. McHugh.
“As a veteran and physician, I know how critical it is for the men and women who defend our freedom to have access to high quality medical services. I am honored to have been asked to serve on this subcommittee and hope that my background and healthcare experience offer the necessary expertise to fully support the needs of our soldiers,” said Rep. Fleming.

The jurisdiction of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel includes military personnel policy, reserve component integration and employment issues, military health care, military education, and POW/MIA issues. In addition, the subcommittee will be responsible for Morale, Welfare and Recreation issues and programs.
