Washington D.C.  – U.S. House Armed Services Committee Ranking Republican Duncan Hunter (R-CA) today commended President Bush for the appointment of former Senator Bob Dole and former Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala as co-chairs of a newly-established Presidential commission to investigate the conditions at military and veterans medical centers and provide recommendations to improve the care for U.S. servicemembers who have been injured or wounded in the Global War on Terrorism.

Hunter’s statement follows:

“These are excellent choices by President Bush.  In Bob Dole, you have an American hero with experience in the military healthcare system and heart for America’s veterans.  In Donna Shalala, you have a prominent leader with valuable experience in the national healthcare debate.”
