Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, today commented on the resignation of Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld. Hunter’s statement follows:
“Secretary Rumsfeld has done an excellent job of transforming the military and modernizing the civil service at the Pentagon while fighting the war on terrorism.
“One of his most significant accomplishments includes beginning the process to build America's missile defense capabilities.
“As a Secretary of Defense with one of the longest tenures in our nation's history, he has conducted his public service with integrity and ability.”
