Given by the National Defense IndustrialAssociation, the award recognizes leaders “in support of the military services and other security-related agencies.” Past recipients include former Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of StaffRichard Myers and Colin Powel, General David Petraeus, and former HASC Chairman Ike Skelton.

“President Obama has been in the political equivalent of an undisclosed location on Afghanistan for nearly a year, so what a pleasant surprise Tuesday to see him emerge on the subject . . . in Afghanistan.
Thirty one military service and veterans organizations urged Congress this week save America’s Armed Forces from the “catastrophic impact that sequestration would have on the defense budget and future national security.”
This week, Defending Defense, a joint initiative of the American Enterprise Institute, Foreign Policy Initiative, and the Heritage Foundation, urged Congress to act immediately to stop sequestration. The $1 trillion in cuts resulting from sequestrations would pose an unacceptable risk to national security and to our industrial base.
