READOUT OF BRIEFING WITH THE ARMY AND ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WASHINGTON - On Thursday, the Military Personnel Subcommittee held a Member briefing with the Army and representatives of the Arlington National Cemetery Advisory Committee to discuss preservation of this iconic cemetery for future generations. Over the last few years, concerns about significant space constraints have been growing, prompting Congress to request the Army provide a report on future capacity. Yesterday’s discussion covered a broad range of topics, including eligibility criteria, challenges to capacity, and options for additional land acquisition to accommodate future needs. Chairman Coffman reaffirmed a commitment to exploring any and all options to ensure the hallowed ground at Arlington National Cemetery will continue to serve as the final resting place for our nation’s brave men and women for generations to come.
