Today, Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-TX), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement on the results of the presidential election in South Korea:

"South Korea is one of our nation's closest security allies, and I congratulate President-elect Moon Jae-in. The United States remains committed to working closely with the Moon government in strengthening U.S.-South Korea defense ties and capabilities, including the deployment of THAAD, and protecting American and South Korean troops who serve on the Korean Peninsula from the threat of North Korea."
