Rogers on the Senate Passage of the OBBB: We’re One Step Closer to Building the Ready, Capable, and Lethal Fighting Force President Trump Promised
Washington,
July 1, 2025
House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL) released a statement today applauding the Senate passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill. “The Senate’s vote to advance the One Big, Beautiful Bill is good news for America’s national security. The threats we face today are more complex than at any point in our history, but we are at the lowest level of defense spending as a percentage of GDP since before WWII. Fortunately, President Trump is leading the effort to reverse that with a historic $150 billion investment in our national security. The House and Senate Armed Services Committees worked closely with the White House to ensure the OBBB carries the President’s Peace through Strength agenda. We’re in lockstep on the priorities needed to restore American deterrence, revitalize the defense industrial base, and modernize our military. Today’s vote to pass the One Big, Beautiful Bill gets us one step closer to building the ready, capable, and lethal fighting force President Trump promised.” Background: The One Big, Beautiful Bill includes a generational $150 billion investment to strengthen America’s national security and implement President Trump’s visionary Peace through Strength agenda. The defense provisions were developed with close collaboration between the White House and the House and Senate Armed Services Committees and include some of the President’s highest priorities to ensure the U.S. military remains the best in the world:
