Jackson: U.S. Must Strengthen the Defense Intelligence Enterprise to Swiftly Counter the CCP and Global Threats

2118 RHOB

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Ronny Jackson (R-TX), Chairman of the Intelligence and Special Operations Subcommittee, delivered the following opening remarks at a hearing on the posture of the defense intelligence enterprise.

Rep. Jackson's opening remarks as prepared for delivery:

Today, we will hear from our witnesses on the Defense Intelligence Enterprise, or DIE, and how the DIE is postured for Fiscal Year 2026 and beyond.

The Department of Defense is focused on strategic competition, particularly countering the People’s Republic of China and ensuring our Armed Forces have the tools, capabilities, and training needed to succeed in any environment.

But we know strategic competition is only one of the many challenges our forces are called to address.

We must also ensure that we are supporting all the Geographic Combatant Commands to counter whatever threats may arise.

Intelligence enables leaders to make informed decisions, especially in an increasingly complex world, thereby enhancing their lethality, survivability, and capacity to provide for our nation’s defense.

Ensuring we have a Defense Intelligence Enterprise that is capable, robust, and synchronized is critical.

This is a challenging task at hand and one we look forward to working with the Department on.

Understanding each of your roles in these efforts will help us ensure that your organizations have the capabilities needed and the resources required to accomplish your mission.

We look forward to hearing from you about the DIE’s priorities and the strengths, challenges, and ongoing synchronization efforts within the DIE.
