Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-TX), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, made the following statement after the President’s announcement of an additional deployment of 615 troops to Iraq:

“Last July, President Obama extended the deployment and ordered the new deployment of thousands of additional troops to Afghanistan and Iraq. Three months later, he has yet to request the funding required to support their mission. Today, the President announced another incremental deployment to the Middle East, but still remains silent on how he intends to support them. That is simply unacceptable. Politics aside, the President’s reluctance to fully support these missions sends a demoralizing signal to our troops and a dangerous signal to our enemies.”
