In Remembrance of September 11, 2001IN REMEMBRANCE OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
Washington, DC,
September 9, 2016
In remembrance of the 15th anniversary of September 11, 2001, Chairman Thornberry made the following remarks: "Fifteen years ago, our nation was brutally attacked. Today, we look upon the hallowed grounds of that day and remember those we lost and those heroes who responded. We remember the men and women who have answered our nation’s call to serve and take the fight to our enemies across the globe. After fifteen years of war, we cannot forget those Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of liberty. The Nation is grateful to those heroes’ families and send our thoughts and prayers today and everyday. In July, I had the privilege to visit with our men and women in uniform deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq. They are still defending our nation TODAY and will continue to do so as long as necessary. There are still those who wish to harm the United States. We must always remember that America is a unique force for good in the world. Today, tomorrow and in the years to come we must not waiver in her defense." |
