Rogers Statement on Chairman’s Mark of Fy22 Ndaa
Washington, DC,
August 30, 2021
U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL), Lead Republican of the House Armed Services Committee, released a statement following the release of the draft of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 released by Chairman Adam Smith (D-WA). "This week, every American was reminded of the dedication and sacrifices our marines, sailors, soldiers, airmen, and guardians make to defend our nation. Thirteen women and men, representing the best of our country, paid the ultimate price. We will remember them and we pray with their families. "I keep thinking about Sergeant Nicole Gee and the photo she shared with the world just days ago. It captured her caring for an Afghan baby at HKIA, saying ‘I love my job.' She gave her life so that others may live a better life. America will always remember Sgt. Gee. "The world is a better place because of our men and women in uniform. They sign up to serve, to deploy around the globe, to assist those suffering from disaster, and to fight and defeat evil. At every turn they carry out their mission with professionalism, pride, determination, and honor. Our military is the greatest force for good the world has ever known. "The National Defense Authorization Act is a serious piece of legislation crafted by serious legislators. It is Congress' opportunity to support our service members. No bill is ever perfect, but I look forward to making adjustments with my colleagues as the NDAA moves through the legislative process."
