Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Today, Blue Star Families, Military Family Advisory Network, Military Officers Association of America, and National Military Family Association announced their support for the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement Act. The Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement Act will serve as the base text for the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The text of H.R. 8070 can be found HERE.

"In a time of increased international conflict, we must recognize where mission readiness originates: the military family," Blue Star Families CEO Kathy Roth-Douquet said. "The Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement Act addresses those quality-of-life issues that our data tells us impact a family's likelihood to stay in service or to recommend it. They are issues we can no longer afford to ignore."

“Our military’s strongest asset is our people. MFAN’s data continue to show that service members and their families choose to serve because they believe in our country, our democracy, and the opportunities that military service can provide their families,” Shannon Razsadin, CEO of Military Family Advisory Network said. “On behalf of MFAN and those we serve, we applaud Chairman Mike Rogers, Ranking Member Adam Smith, Quality of Life Panel Chairman Don Bacon and Ranking Member Chrissy Houlahan, and the members of the panel for recognizing force readiness and family readiness are not mutually exclusive.”

“The importance of this panel's work on behalf of our servicemembers and their families can't be overstated – both in the meaningful changes and improvements the members propose, and in the way this legislation came together: Bipartisan teamwork to better understand the needs of the military community and identify solutions. MOAA looks forward to helping Congress finish the job and ensure the NDAA includes policies that will make a real difference to those who serve, especially junior members who need the most support,” MOAA President and CEO Lt. Gen. Brian T. Kelly, USAF (Ret.) said.

“Our service members and their families answer America’s call every day,” Besa Pinchotti, CEO of the National Military Family Association said. “They go to war to keep us safe, cope with deployments, and separations… and make sacrifices that leave so many families food insecure. The recommendations made by the Quality of Life panel will reduce financial stress for hundreds of thousands of military families, allowing them to focus on the mission. Now we start the hard work of getting these proposals passed into law, so that the families protecting our freedom know our country will protect them.”
