SINGAPORE - A congressional delegation led by Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-TX), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and including Reps Mike Conaway (R-TX), Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), and Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH), concluded their travels in the Indo-Pacific region by attending the Shanghai-La Dialogue, a regional security conference in Singapore. The delegation met with US Secretary of Defense James Mattis and held bilateral discussions with senior officials from Singapore, Vietnam, Australia, South Korea, and Japan. MANILA - A Congressional Delegation led by Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-TX), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and including Reps Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) and Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH) today concluded a two-day visit to the Philippines. During their visit, the delegation met with Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff, General Carlito Galvez and Undersecretary for National Defense for the Philippines Cardozo Luna. The delegation also visited Camp Navarro in Zamboanga City where they were briefed by US forces on joint US / Philippine counterterrorism operations. The delegation laid a wreath at the Manila American Cemetery, one of the largest WWII era American cemeteries in the world.

In Colombo, the Delegation met Sri Lankan President Maiyhripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Karu Jayasuriya Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament, and R. Sampanthan Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition and Tamil National Alliance. During their meetings, the delegation emphasized the shared values of democracy, rule of law and freedom of the seas. They encouraged Sri Lankan leaders to continue vital constitutional reforms and stability efforts.
