Thornberry: Budget Dysfunction has a Human Cost

Today, Chairman Thornberry (R-TX) led a conversation with Secretary of Defense Mattis and Secretary of State Tillerson at the GOP retreat. After the conversation, he spoke with members of the media about the consequences of stopgap funding for our military. Some of his comments are below, watch the entire clip here.

"We lost 23 service members to hostile actions in 2017. We lost 4 times more than that to training related accidents. This budget dysfunction has a human cost and our military is bearing the brunt of it."

"So, all those people who say yes we need more funding for the military, only if I get my way on this immigration issue or only if I get my way on this domestic spending issue, that's wrong."
