Rogers Praises Decision to Resume Military Aid to Ukraine

Washington, D.C. – Today, House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL) made the following statement praising President Trump’s decision to resume military aid to Ukraine:

“President Trump is right that now is not the time to pause U.S. military aid to support Ukraine’s defense. Vladimir Putin has been given every opportunity to pursue a lasting peace. His refusal to do so, and his misjudgment of the President’s determination, is a serious mistake.

President Trump understands how to wield American power to advance our national interests. Continued U.S. weapons assistance will advance this administration’s Peace Through Strength agenda by making clear to Putin that he must come to the negotiating table.

Moreover, following the President’s success in securing a 5% defense spending commitment at last month’s NATO summit, I urge our European and Canadian allies to deepen their support for Ukraine, including through greater investment in U.S. defense production that enhances both Ukrainian capabilities and our collective security.”
