Rogers: HASC Working with President Trump to Restore American Deterrence

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representatives Mike Rogers (R-AL), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, released a statement in support of President Trump’s Executive Orders to support shipbuilding, expedite defense acquisition, and make it easier for allies and partners to buy American weapons.

“Today President Trump signed three Executive Orders that I hope will give rise to a renaissance in defense innovation and manufacturing.

“Over the last few decades, our shipbuilding industry and defense industrial base have atrophied, and our defense acquisition system has been slowed by bureaucratic red tape.

“With the renewed focus on shipbuilding through executive action, President Trump will bolster American shipbuilding and support American workers.

“Today’s action also takes important steps to ensure our defense acquisition system can equip our warfighters with what they need when they need it. Acquisition reform will be one of my top priorities in the FY26 NDAA.

“I also agree that we must make it easier to buy American weapons – today’s move will encourage our allies to shoulder more of the defense burden while expanding the capacity of our defense industrial base.

“The House Armed Services Committee is already working hand in glove with President Trump’s administration to support these initiatives and restore American deterrence.”
