Outside Perspectives on the President's Proposed Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
Today House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry (R-TX) announced a full committee hearing on Outside Perspectives on the President's Proposed Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. In comments last week, the Chairman agreed with the decision to request an AUMF, however he has "concerns about how the proposal... will enable our military commanders to degrade and defeat ISIL."
This hearing will allow for direct input from witnesses outside of the administration and ideally shed light on what the language in the President's proposal would mean for our troops tasked with this fight. This hearing is in addition to those previously announced.
