Thornberry On Reports Of White House Decision To Send Troops To Syria

"A more serious effort against ISIS in Syria is long overdue..."

Today, Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-TX), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, made the following comments in response to news reports that the White House is sending U.S. troops to Syria:

“A more serious effort against ISIS in Syria is long overdue. Absent a larger coherent strategy, however, these steps may prove to be too little too late. I do not see a strategy for success, rather it seems the Administration is trying to avoid a disaster while the President runs out the clock. “

The Committee will have a hearing on Middle East strategy in the coming weeks.
