Washington, D.C. --- U.S. House Armed Services Committee Chairman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) today released the following statement regarding Rep. Joel Hefley’s (R-CO) decision to retire following the 109th Congress. Hefley is the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Subcommittee on Readiness.
Hunter’s statement follows:
“Joel Hefley has been the standard for integrity and leadership on the House Armed Services Committee.
“Joel was a leader on many important initiatives for the men and women of our Armed Forces, including his efforts to privatize military housing. This initiative has proven to be valuable in improving the quality of life for military families.
“The men and women of our military owe Joel a great debt of gratitude, as we all do, for his service.”
