Washington, D.C.—U.S. Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, today announced that John Noonan has joined the House Armed Services Committee as the Deputy Communications Director and Speechwriter. Noonan, a former Air Force officer, most recently served as a policy advisor at the Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI).
“We’re happy to have John on board the House Armed Services Committee team. In his new role, he will put his national security and defense experience to work on behalf of the men and women of America’s Armed Services. Our nation is facing many challenges and we will count on John to help us craft a way forward to ensure our nation remains the world’s pre-eminent power,” said Chairman McKeon.
“Joining HASC is a fantastic opportunity. I’m excited to return to the military community and to be part of the team that advances the Chairman’s new agenda,” said John.
Before entering the policy community at FPI, John Noonan served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. John was assigned to the 90th Missile Operations Group, 321st Missile Squadron and the 392nd Training Squadron. In his previous roles, John was a regular contributor to The Weekly Standard and has been published in Wired, Politico, the Small Wars Journal and the National Review. In addition, he worked as a writer and blogger for Military.com and has appeared on NBC, Fox News and a wide variety of broadcast and print media outlets.
